The Alberta Table of Formations is an important reference tool for resource industries, academia, government and the public to identify and name geological rock formations in Alberta. This version incorporates new knowledge of stratigraphic (rock layer) relationships of rock units in Alberta and brings the Alberta Table of Formations into alignment with the current naming practices of the North American Stratigraphic Code (guide to categorize and name rock layers).
