Description

The coal mine map viewer is an interactive map application that facilitates map navigation through panning and zooming functions and allows users to locate mines by their associated mine numbers.

For a map of the geographical location of coal regions, fields, deposits, and occurrences, please refer to Coal in Alberta Spatial Data. For historical mine locations, please refer to ST45: Coal Mines Atlas.

Attributes for Coal Mines: method/type of excavation, registered name of coal mine, mine number, mine owner, operational status of mine, type of mine (surface, underground, or unknown), shape, and shape area.

Attributes for Coal Permits: method/type of excavation, registered name of coal mine, mine number, mine owner, operational status of mine, type of mine (surface, underground, or unknown), permit number, shape, and shape area.
